Has anyone been over the last couple of days. Plus are you running your dipsys with or without the ring?

I ran big dipseys with the ring when I was there last Wednesday. #1 at 60 back and #3 at 85 to 110' back worked for us.

Marc Bodi, Wheatley is definitely the port to hit...not Erieau. I imagine you are headed to Wheatley anyway.

Launched at Mazuriks and drove the 35 miles to Wheatley on Sunday. Juls had to much work to do around the house so I made the trip solo. Set lines at 54-17 app. 11:00 AM, talked to Mike on Boatnut,he was at 56-16 with 7 rockets already. I trolled toward him and by 1:00 I was 9-13 on Steelhead and 3-5 on Walleye. Best for me was 1 1/2 at 66 and 71. By far Chicken Wing took 90% of my action. Came back to Middle Island set up on the line and boated 6 more eyes in an hour. 45 foot back on 1 1/2 setting again Chicken Wing.

Thanks Mike for the help.

Went saturday on the Skunk Ape and again on sunday aboard Reel Naughty, thanks dudes. Saturday was nasty weather, rain and heavy winds. Fished both days 6.5 to 7 miles SE of Wheatley, 61' of water. Dipseys set at 75, 90, 105 for 1, 2 & 3 settings. Downriggers around 40'. Saturday went 11 for 11. Sunday had much nicer conditions and went 24 for 28 and also 11 walleyes. Both days produced 11 pounder for largest.

I'll let JD give all his Reel Naughty settings.

Took over one hour to cross back over the Ambassador.

LBII, what is the name of that hotel you stayed in at Wheatley? Also, do you or Real Naughty have the GPS coordinates for the Wheatley Harbor? Can't find it on line. Thanks

Its located just east of town.

Do you and Tom have another extended trip planned? Driving home and back up the next morning made for long days. Might try to arrange a long weekend trip or use up some vacation days.

LBII..thanks for the info. Yes, Tom and I are looking at several three-day weekends for the next 4-5 weeks. It does make for a long day doing the drive. We did stay in Erieau Saturday night

Rick,
Glad you got them all. Was slow for us compared to last Wednesday but we still got 10 for 12 by noon. Nice ride back. Copper watermelon was the hot spoon for us and anything with orange.

We hit Wheatley today and went 18 for about 30 releases in about 4 hours with 2 Walleye. Leadcore was hot the first hour and half then the riggers took off at 55 and 60 down. We ran almost all orange and copper with 90% of hook-ups on this color combo. The dipsy's were magnums on 3 setting ranging from 100 to 160 back and 2 setting at 80 to 120 back.
We lost alot of fish while they performed acrobates for us, it was some awesome action. The Walleye action really slowed down today compared to the last 2 days, which were about the same results on the steelhead. We seem to be getting them real deep in the water column. We were fishing in 58 to 62 foot of water.

Mike, the numbers for Wheatley harbor are;

42.03.36
82.27.47

Those should put you about 300 yards outside the harbor.

As far as leads go - 5-6 colors of lead, dipsys 115, 90, 65 back and riggers at 37 and 44 for us. Oranges were better then dark colors when the sun came up.

Hi,
Well the weekend is over and we fished Wheatley today(Monday). We went 20 for 33.About 7 miles S.E. of the Harbor in 62 fow.Started at 10am and it looked like we would be finished by noon however the wind came up and it got rough and most of the day we were fishing in 4ft'ers.Quit around 6 pm.My hot spoon came from Last Chance Tackle.Piranha(pink one side, green the other).Other guys were fishing spoons from Janns Netcraft that they had taped themself.I was running the Riggers at 32ft they were running the dipsys any where from 20 to 40 ft deep.

May I be fishing somewhere Tomorrow

Wife and I went 7/4 12 Monday before the wind blew us off. Nice steelhead 6 - 8 lbs. 40 down, 30 back on the riggers, 120 and 100 on divers, a 3 setting did the trick. Picked up 2 walleye, l- 3lb, 1- 10lb, which was my wife's fish. I offered to have it mounted. She said, if it isn't bigger than yours we'll just eat it.
