Looking for info on this line from people who have used it. I'm interested in the durability in trolling applications with boards. Is there different kinds of line, like trilene has XL and XT. and which is best for trolling.
I also am interested in putting this line on my jigging rods. I have been a Trilene guy for a long time and now have a chance to purchase this line at a reduced rate through the NPAA. Thanks for any input.

Hey Fritz,
Can't give you any info on working with the boards, but can say that I like the Silver Thread for jigging here on the Mississippi..We run 3 ways a lot with the dropper being a 5/8 to 1 oz. jig and can say that the knot strength and durability is great..Nice sensitivity as well..I always use the palomar knot on all of my rigs and find that it holds up well with this line..We usually use 8 or 10 pound test and don't have to worry about the fish being line shy, but it seemed to work OK on Mille Lacs and other clearer lakes..
Hope that this info has helped..

Fritz,
I used the line that was offered last year thru the NPAA, and found it to work just fine. I didn't have any problems with it breaking, or fraying when using the boards. I did however, change the line quite often. Probably every 6 weeks.
I was using the 10# test on the linecounters for trolling, and the 8# test on the jigging rods. I'm using it again on the jigging rods this year, but I will also try a high visibility line on two of the jigging rods just to see if it improves my ability to work the bait, but I haven't decided on which brand yet. If it's better I will switch all my jiggin' rods to the high visibility line.
I used the 12# test on the bottom bouncer rods with good results.
I say if it works use it, and if it doesn't cost a lot of money, that's even better, don't you think? ;-)

have used silver thread for about 12 years.....
never on boards but always for jigging
prefer it to trilene
you will not be disappointed
good luck
Very good product. You'll like it.
I use the Silver Thread in 12lb. test for boards and flat line trolling and it works great. The dia. of the 12lb. Silver Thread is the same dia. as the 10lb. XT line used to set up the Precision Trolling Handbook and it costs much less. I buy the large spool because the 27's eat up alot of line. Keep the spool in the freezer and it will last a long time.

I used Silverthread for many years and if I had to chose a mono to put money on, it would be silverthread. I've used it for jigging, baitcast reels and trolling. The AN 40 was a real tuff abrasion resistant line, but had more memory than you wanted. AN 40 works real good for tying spinner rigs. The Super Silverthread is the type still on my trolling rods. It's soft, yet very abrasion resistant and sensitive. I used 6lb test on my jigging rods, and 10 or 12 on my baitcasters. On my trolling rods, I beleive I have 17lb test, no problem with using boards.
