When I power up my LMS-350A it will operate normally for a short time and then start to emit a beep and simultaneous flash. Has anyone ever experienced this kind of behavior before, and what was the cause? (It does the same thing when hooked up to a second battery.)

I assume I will have to send it to Lowrance for repair. Does Lowrance sell replacement units? What can I expect for cost?

Lowrance will refurbish your unit for around $100. Fix whatever is wrong, new screen, etc.

I just sent mine in and they sent me one (not the one i sent in) back that had been refurbished. I also had to have the GPS portion fixed so I got the new 12ch. Module. No choice in that. They don't make the old style anymore. They were very quick to respond. It cost a total for everything $300.00.Call them and get an RA# first. or you can Email your info at Lowrance.com

I normally had this problem when the battery got below
a 10.6 volts. Recharging the battery to a full charge
would normally cured the problem. Another solution for
the malfunction could be your power cable after time
they become corroded and have to be replaced. But if your
unit locksup or shuts down you have a software problem
which will need major repair by sending to where these
other gentelmen advised.

The nice thing is that there should be a UPS return label in your box. Slap it on your shipping box - and with no further input from you - ups will pick it up and ship it to Lowrance. Lowrance also pays the return shipping.

p.s.
Before returning your unit -- make sure that you are getting +12 volts to your internal unit. If you have a bad bettery, or corroded terminals -- you might only have 8 volts at your depth finder internal connections.

If this is the first time since using your depth finder since last fall - make sure -- use a voltmeter - to determine if you have 12 volts at the depth finder power supply pins going int the unit.

Many times over storage - a single cell in a battery can become bad. Although the battery charger might think that the battery is charged - you might only have 9.8 volts available at the output from your depth finder battery.

If you do find that you have low voltage at your depth finder - then go back to read the voltage directly on the battery terminals. If that battery is low - and the battery is just off charge -- replace the battery. If the voltage is low at the depth finder but ok at the battery - check the entire line run and find the bad connection. Most likely a bad fuse, corroded connection, or even a corroded wire under the plastic cover on the end of a wire. Continue checking until you find the source of your voltage drop -- typically a high resistance connection on a terminal or where the connector is cripmed to the wire -- and fix it.

Take care

I to had the same problem. Went nuts trying to fix it. It was just low volts in a bad battery. Changed battery worked fine.If I don't charge the battery once in a while it happens again. Like others have said, check your power lines.Good Luck

i think this exact problem occurred on my buddies boat but am not certain how we fixed it...we did not send it in...call service and they may be able to tell you how to fix it...as i remember it we took his graph off his boat and put it on mine and it worked ok on my boat so we knew the unit was ok...try doing this before sending it in if you have a bud with the same unit...steve
