I have read several times in In-Fisherman that football heads are very effective in rock & shale. I am always looking for something that snags less. They are supposed give your grub or sassy shad a unique action.Has anyone tried these yet?

I've lost my share of football jigs. I think they're designed for rivers, though we use them for jigging in deep lakes too. Seems all my football heads are 1/4 oz or larger.

Have had good success using them vertically in rivers. They are a good dragging jig,too...if bottom allows dragging.

These jigs have a stand up quality to them that makes them work well in sand. As faras snag resistant,no more than any other jig head. The largest disadvantage is their poor hooking % when the whole jighead is gulped. One can overcome this by using larger hooks than the mould calls for. Enjoy
