Well, REW and I hit the river at about 10:15 on Saturday with a plan to pound the wingsams and rip-rap. We started on a wingdam that has produced over the last couple of weeks, nothing there today. So, we headed for a rip-rap area just north of there. We hit that pretty hard, ringworms, hair, and minnows. This produced several white bass, a couple sheephead, and something rather large. This large fish was hooked by REW, he played it with the precision of a brain surgeon, he would take line, the fish took line, back and forth, me at the ready with the net. ;) He worked it near the surface, and I put the net in the water, ready for the lunker. Under the boat it went, hitting the net with the line, and GONE!!:o MY BAD!!! Sorry, REW..... We continued north to work the wingdams and turned up only a couple white bass and one sauger. So, we headed south to some new rip-rap areas, and found nothing. We stopped at an another wingdam (unknown by me), set up and started pitching. Again, REW hooked a nice fish, this one was boated...nice 21 1/2 eye. That was pretty much it for the day.

It was a great day on the water, warm, little wind, and great company..what else can you ask for..
This pool should start turning on pretty soon, the water temps are about right, but we need some flow.

Try it out, you may hit the right day, it can be gangbusters!!

Marc,
It was my fault that the fish was lost.
After pulling up the empty hook, I checked the barb and found it bent back on itself.
Apparently, just before hooking the fish - I must have caught the hook on a rock and bent the tip.

Just a lesson, that when fishing rocks and rip rap - as we were that day - always check your hook point after any time that you feel that you got hooked in a rock. It is very easy to bend a tip and when that happens; it is very tough to get a good hookset on a fish.

Great day on the water.

Yup, been there, done that . Look up lost fish in the dictionary and my picture's there :banging: .

Wasn't pointing a finger at Joe, just pointing out how scary being the netman can be :P .
