Went out the river and went east about 1 mile. Bubblegum reefrunners & Pink lemonade 45 feet back 1.5 MPH. Had a quad of 6#ers, triples and doubles until our arms were sore. All of the fish were between 2 and 10 pounds with the average around 5-8.
We did manage a night fish. Troll to the east right at the river mouth and pulled #18 clown Rapalas and #18 chartreuse rapalas. It was the only thing they wanted. Again it was about 1.5 MPH.
Everyone says .9 or 1.0 but we did well at the faster speed.
3 of us went down friday and came back sunday night with all of our limits.
I thought our coolers were full of salmon with the weight. It was maddog crazy down there. What a way to end the season...!!!
Get down there now. Motels are empty, cheap and very accomodating and the fish are right there. I bet we didn't go through 10 gallons of gas...AWESOME!!!......Paul U.P. Michigan

P.S. We were pulling in-line off-shore boards with tattle flags (45ft.being the best) up to 130feet back and they were sinking them like bobbers!!!

Rabbit,
Good report. Gotta love the "Board Sinkers"... Pretty sure sign you have a Lake Erie EATER hooked up. We fished real close to the area of your report on Thursday and also did very well with a very similar program. Got our 18 in about 2 hours.
Headed back out today - could be the last trip of the year for me.

hey fellas,
I just had a quick question for you guys. I'm probably going to be coming out in the next couple of weeks and was wondering if the kind of bite you guys are having will hold up through the rest of the fall?? Will they stay in that area or do they head west?? I really appreciate your posts I live in Minnesota so the ability to form a game plan before arrival is critical. Thanks again!

Reading these great reports makes our day yesterday even more frustrating. Four of us decided at noon on Wednesday to make the 2 hour drive to Huron on Thursday. One of the guys has a 25 ft Trophy that we trailered down. He fishes salmon and trout mainly but was set up ok for walleyes. Well, when we got out on the water, he discovered that he had left his trolling bag at home. The slowest we could get his rig down to was about 2.2mph and that was heading straight into the waves. Going with them we were at about 3mph. We picked up 8 on reef runners in about 7 hours of fishing. The smallest was 4 lbs and we had 2 right at 8, so the quality of the fish was excellent. We also got a nice bonus steelie. All in all a great day on the water. Just sorry we couldn't get down to the slow speeds required at this time of year.

That happened to me a few years back
I tied a rope to a 5 gallon bucket - tied it to a cleat, threw it overboard and slowed down immediately
