A buddy went up Tuesday, one small one. Got another buddy who has better luck up there going up Friday. I'll let you know when I hear from him.

Pounding them at the spillway on sonars. Hurry up, won't last long as they're only there for about 2 weeks. No skill needed. Just drop a sonar a pull up. Fill your freezer the easy way like all of us anglers do. It's so easy I sold my boat to buy a bigger freezer....

Nothing under 16", but this cold front may possibly end it.

You call yourself an angler? You go to the spillway, drop a treble hook down, pull up, snag a walleye and put it on a stringer? You probably take more than your limit, too. That's just one of the reasons fishing has declined at this lake. Greedy "anglers" like yourself. The state should step in and not allow fishing at the spillway from mid-March to May 1st. That'll allow these fish to get back out to the lake and maybe change its fortune.

Couldn't agree with you more. Then you have guys like Benny who posts on here and tells us all none of us know how to fish.

Hey spunkeye first of all ive been fishing pymy for years now and i know that there are alot more fish in that lake than everyone is saying and actually if YOU knew anything that lake has NO what-so-ever natural reproduction and actually in the new Pennsylvania Game and Fish they said that pymatuning is going to be a 10year program with the fish commission to learn why the fish they are putting in the lake arent living...So until you get your ideas straight leave me out of it...and there is skill to working a sonar, plus color, plus size, plus how you work the lure...Yes and i do agree about how its wrong for the people to snag the fish and keep them or take more than they are suppose to and its going to catch up with them...but seriously how come you have to bad mouth me on here you dont know anything about me..

My buddy went up last night and got 4 from 16"-22" all on minnows with a slip sinker rig. He said it was pretty brutal, 5" of snow in the 5 or 6 hours he was there. He wasn't at the causeway either.

I love to come to walleye central and read all the fishing reports. The site is full of grown men sharing information and having fun doing what they love. After all we are not at work!

I have never fished pymatuning but have fed the carp loaves of bread. I will probably never fish this lake because it seemes to turn great anglers into argumenative boat ramp warriors. We show our kids how to argue at the boat ramp because we cant get on the water fast enough, we keep every fish and show our kids the fish sticks from the store, we rarely take our kids fishing because we cant stand ourselves anymore. We are old, cranky, bitter men pened in our house by bad weather. So please dont use the site for airing you negative opinions, we will have plenty of time to fight at the boat ramps!

We all need to stuff some worms in our kids pocket, drive our oversized boats to the lake and go fishinggggggggg! Bad weather means bad fishing so go see a movie.

I Think the Spillway should be shut down because there are a bunch of anglers that do go up there and keep every fouled eye they hook and thats why some of them need bigger freezers.I watched two guys last year foul hook several eyes and still had the balls to put them on there stringer.and when they got there illegal 6 fish they left.but not with out me giving them a hard time in the parking lot.I told them that if a fish commission officer was there that I would point them out.well I will tell you one thing.those of you that follow the law are just hurting your self by not tell those guys that keep every thing they foul hook.I will leave you with that thought.
Thank you

Yea i know what you are saying hitman, i dont know if you use to fish up there probably about 8 years ago or so no one would every fish the spill way for walleye it never use to be like that...and there are a bunch of total a**holes that go there it sort of reminds me of fishing erie for steelhead lol...i hate to go there anymore ill just wait another month and slaughter them in the weed beds lol

Bottom line: The spillway (including the bridge) and the causeway bridge need to be closed from Mid-March to May. If you love walleye fishing and the challenge they present, then let these fish get out into the lake. It's not the biggest factor affecting the walleye, but it is a contributing factor....

theres no skill in pymie shore fishing at the spillway....all it takes is sitting around waiting in line for hours after ice out to get in on the wire at the spillway to fish a 20X20 area with 15 other guys...probaly the best skill is having a cell phone so your buddy can take your spot when you are done...its a joke...but it does work...but a joke none the less...not exactly my idea of fishing...

I dont think you guys understand the spirit of my earlier post. Do you really think sitting around complaining is going to change peoples fishing habits. How many guys do you really see fishing illegally or snagging fishing and keeping them. NOT MANY! Most of the people I meet are honest fishermen who love the sport. If your so concerned over the present and future, you better start showing young people the right way. Quit worrying about a select few and start fishing.

Spillway looks like commercial fishing at its finest,,those guys catch hundreds and hundreds on those big females every year,,kill em they do. Guess someones got to eat em. Talked to one gent said he caught 120 himself. Watched from my boat several years back and it was quite the show. Just like too many deer in PA,,guess there's too many walleye in Pymy,,,Idea for the park,,,,,have a drawing every year, like the goose blinds, give prime position seating at the spillway honey hole,,,pass it around.

I would like to what a sonar is. Is it a kind of spoon or is a different kind of lure. I fish pymatuning alot and never heard of those. I am planning on going up this weekend.

A sonar is a lure that generally looks like a grass hopper or cicada. When jigged vertically, they vibrate and attract fish. They have trebble hooks attached so can snag fish rather than catch. If you snag them move on and try another day. If your catching in the mouth, great and productive lure. Look for a lure called a VIB-E 3/8 ounce.

Take a picture and save some for us or eat them and tell us how good they were!
