I want to remove some decals I placed on my alum. boat. I put these decals on paint that was a year old, ( I used them to hide some of the scratches that were to deep to sand out). How do I remove these stickers without pulling the paint off? I hope there is a method. I was thinking maybe the use of a hair dryer, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the help, WS.

The hair dryer will be a good start, then go after the glue layer with "Goo Gone." Great stuff...just squirt it on, wait a little and off comes the decal.

I have seen some stuff at Wal Mart called "sticker off" , it is in the boating section.

Regardless of what product you use to remove the adhesive, you will need to get the vinyl off first. Heat gun, and a nylon scraper will do the trick, but it still is hard work. I agree with the first post, goo gone is great stuff to remove the glue.

Try some fuel oil on the glue left after the hair dryer program. That should work and not be to harh on the paint. Rub lightly and use plenty of oil.

Check some of your local body shop supply or parts places. 3m makes an eraser wheel that works slick. Just put it on a drill and erase they decal off. It won't hurt or affect the finish
