Sorry for what is probably a repeat question, didn't find a good post in my search. I am looking for an appropriate line for setting up reels to run 3-ways/bottom bouncers. I've seen where some use mono and some prefer a fireline type for spooling onto your reel. Pro's and con's of each and line weight would be appreciated as it's time to start stripping reels. I'm new to the technique and looking to cut out some of the inexperienced trial and error where I can.

Thanks,
HOP

I run braided line from Cabela's the SI 8/25 lb test stuff. I like it for the following reasons:
1) It cuts the water great 2) it has great sensitivity 3) and it never breaks on a snag, (some would argue this but I have pulled more plugs out of snags with this line than mono)

Changes you will need to make are: 1) more flexible pole and longer 2) set the drag real light 3) quit setting the hook

I use 10 pound fireline.I know that sounds lite but with only 4 pound diameter it cuts through the water with minnimum resistanceand i can fish more vertically with less wieght. Not to mention the sensitivety and abrasion resistance.hope this helps.

I use Spiderline 6/30 for the main line. I feel most secure using that braid. Another good idea would be to check fish www.fishtheriver.com . Everyone on that sight seems to have alot of great suggestions for whatever kind of fishing you are doing. Furthermore, everyone seems to be great people. They will help you out any way they can.
