JUST CURIOUS AS TO WHAT TYPES OF LINE PEOPLE ARE USING FOR VERTICAL JIGGING IN RIVERS ? I'M FISHING A RIVER WITH MODERATE FLOW AND WANT SOME TIPS AS TO WHAT LINES CUT THE CURRENT THE BEST.(LINE TYPES, LB TEST, MONO, FIRELINE?)

For tipping with live bait only the Northland Fire-Ball jig is hard to beat.
For rigging a plastic twister tail and a bait I like the Lipstick jig or the Phelps stand-up jig. This keeps the bait up so a bottom hugger can woof it up more easily. They have a good barb to hold the plastic in place and a hook with a wide enough gap to get a good set even while tipped with a minnow.
For line try Fire line in smoke 4/10. Solar in 6-10 lb works well for me in most river conditions.

The 6 lb Fireline will give you less water resistance and I have never had trouble w/ line strength. The 6 lb will straighten the hook on a Fireball before it breaks. That's enough for me.

I always used the 6-2 fireline with great success, and I agree that it straightens hooks. This spring, I loaded the reels with 4-1. I am hoping to get away with lighter jigs, will report back when I have some data.
Fireline with a 2 foot mono snell on the end to allow a little stretch. The mono will break if you get snagged. I rig most of my rods this way. Good for cranks, jigs, bottom bouncers, almost anything.
