Looking to run Diawa 27 linecounting reels. I noticed under a discussion on trolling rods that some telescope. Is there an 8' or 8'6" rod that will telescope down to 7' to fit my rod lockers? Thanks.

Ron-The St Croix GT80M is a rod that will meet your needs. See the thread posted below on trolling rods for a more complete discussion or email me with questions. Good Luck.

I posted this before...

I have 12 of the BPS P&K Signature trolling rods and they are excellent. The rods have the right combination of power and tip sensitivity and will handle either mono or superlines. I like their telescoping foam handles- very durable. I use the 8.5's for boards and the 7.5's for flat lining. And new this year, they offer an 8'. FYI- the 7.5's retracted measure 76" and the 8.5's are 86". Rod companies should supply this info. There is a foam plug in the handle you can remove and shorten approximately 2" or so if space in your rod locker is a little tight. I've always said this is the best $50 fishing rod you can buy but I see they have raised the price to $60! ##### LOL JC

The P&K rods from Bass Pro are telescopic. The 8'6" goes down to a 7'4" and the 8' goes down to a 6'4". Also just purchased a Gary Roach trolling rod that looks nice. It starts out at 7'10" and goes down to 6'4".

The Gary Roach series from Berkley is ~8' when extended and ~6.5' when retracted. Will definately fit a 7' box. I keep 4 of them permanently in my 7' box. Pretty good rod (~$75 maybe a bit cheaper), but I don't think they are any better than the P/K series that the others mention.

Yes, the St. Croix Pro Glass (GT80M). This rod is 8' long and telescopes down to fit my 7' rod lockers. So far this is the best trolling rod I've come across (and I've tried a lot :-)).

Best Regards,
