Thinking of taking an overnight trip to OH. for 'Eyes. Of the three listed where is the best bite happening currently and where would be the best chance for a 10+
Huron, Vermilion or Avon?
Any locations to start would also be appreciated.
Thanks

Good bites in all three areas you mention which aren't that far apart. Maybe stay in Vermilion which is in the middle and go either way. BEST chance for a 10+# eye now would be further East of Cleveland like Geneva / Ashtabula / Conneaut / Erie, PA / Dunkirk, NY - but there are some big fish still being taken from Avon and west just not in great numbers.

With all due respect to FreeByrd, I would launch in Lorain and fish 5-8 miles N - NE of the harbor about 50' of water and work the bottom 10 feet of the water column. Did good both last Mon and Wed for good grade of eyes. The 10lb you are looking for will be hit or miss but not too hard to take your limit. Spoke to a guy at the dock today and he said the Lake was not stirred up to bad with the blow we had the last couple days. That sounds good for a successful trip.

Thanks guys. Any other suggestions? Whats the current method of choice, spoons, harnesses, cranks? What depth are the fish running at?

The big fish bite out of vermilion is slowing, but hey, its lake erie you never know. My best guess is the farther east the better.

Have been fishing Vermilion area and a little west for the last two weeks. Plenty of fish getting the limit with no problems but no big fish. The biggest I got in the last two weeks was 5 pounds. Their are a few big ones but they are are far and few between. The nicer fish seem to be on RR. Go east for the bigger ones.

Sounds Good, I'm heading up tomorrow for Pa. How deep were you? and were you using meat or spoons? Any advice would help
Thanks
Scott
All meat and anywhere from 52ft and deeper we caught most in 52 though if you have boards run them with the med dipseys and just find a program that works for you
