As you all know, there are always something new and improved in the fishing world. The secret lure that will catch all the fish in the lake, a color that will attract all the fish...

I was at a sportsmans show last month and ran across a couple things that won't catch all the fish in the lake but, I did see some of the new fishing lines and have had a chance to field test them.

Yozuri hybrid-I thought this was a very good line. I mostly used it as a leader for carolina rigging and lindy rigging with live bait. The main line I use is fireline. I has just enough streatch to not rip the mouth out of the fish and lets the slower fish get the bait in its mouth to get a good hook set. I also spooled some on a light spinning reel and found it to be better than a lot of monos. the looping was minimal, the casting was great and it is invisable in the water. Most of all, it is twice the strength it is rated so you can put lighter line on the reel and still have confidence that it will not break.

the other line I tested was spiderline supermono. I thought it was good. I use it for leaders. I used the 8lb test and found it is invisible making it perfect for caralina rig and lindy rig. I have had a couple 5lb+ bass take me through some rock and timber and did not notice any abrasion. I have not spooled any on a reel though but is seems like it would be a little stiff and could cause problems if over spooled.

I have been using the Super Mono XL since it came out last spring. I have been very happy with it's performance. The only problem was the line twist coming off the spool when loading new line. It isn't a line problem, as much as it's the actual spool. You would think that they would have had the sense to use normal filler spools to eliminate this problem. I hope someone out there is listening!
I did try Trilene Sensithin and thought it sucked! I think they just relabled the Ultrathin to fool the fishermen.
Just my two cents!

Weyes posted his opinion. If you disagree, let us know how. That's when the magic of shared information happens here, and all readers are benefitted. All your post did was consume space on this board. Contribute to the betterment of this board or move on.

As for me, I haven't heard enough good about any of the new lines to switch from my Fireline and Powerpro lines.

I wish I had the same access to the plethora of product, information, services, and water that you boys do in Minn. But I live a long way from you and this board even gets international visitors at times.

So my point is to share what information you have. If you learned it at a show that I don't have access to, by all means let me know. You'd be helping more than you'd realize.

What I posted was my opinion. I didn't say that Super Mono was the best. I said that i really liked the way it performed. As for Sensithin, Maybe i just got a bad spool? I bought it when it first came out. Maybe they improved it since then. I can say that I wasn't impressed at all with it. It wasn't sensitive, it stretched like XL and it's knot strength was poor even with a trilene knot. I was a Stren Sensor guy until they changed the process. I'm really happy with the Spider Wire Super Mono. If you try it you may see what I mean.
Just my opinion.

No thanks!
I just found out today that Spider Wire Super Mono is owned by Berkley. That is Pure Fishing, They own a bunch of companies.
I just wish they would have bought out Storm and kept a good product going.
