Fished Wheatley with The Optimist over the weekend. The fish seem to be on the move; but they are still around. Fished Friday afternoon with a strong west wind, and the steelies were suicidal in the four footers. Went 26/36 and the fish were high at 30-35 ft down. The 02/21-22 line in 52-54 fow. Anything with a hook worked, and lots of fish 7-9 lbs. No trailers in the parking lot, as we were the only boat on the water that I saw.

Went to 22 line again on Saturday morning, and the bait was not as heavy and only one hookup in 90 minutes. Motored then to the 13 line and no action. Then went to the 05/17 line, and went 21/33. Deeper fish around 42 ft down in 58-60 fow. The Optimist caught one 11.7 lbs his personal best that made a long ripping run. Of course, that one would have been nice in the Salmon Derby.

Hit the 05/17 line on a rainy Sunday and only had three hookups after the good Saturday there. The fish here had moved from one day to the next. Went back to the 01/02-21/22 lines and ended up 9/13. Pulled lines at 11:30 when it got snotty. Just average sized steelies today.

Hopefully, Wheatley still has another 7-10 days in it. We'll see.

Walleye Quest, I saw you running in on Saturday. Good job on the bow. What do you mean by "getting hurt"?

Fished Saturday afternoon with the wife and kids from (4:30 to 7:00) in 52' of water straight out from the harbor. Picked up 7 nice steelies and 13 real nice walleyes on watermelon/rainbow trout patterned spoons. The water was like glass, and the kids had a blast!

Unfortunately, Big Red had a drive shaft fail on Sunday and she might be down for the rest of the season. We will know more in a couple of days.

Graphed a ton of bait near the white stake (50' of water) and just southeast. Was pretty happy with the numbers considering we were only running two dipsies and two riggers.

Big Red, I tried to call you on Sunday on 6 or 71. I was fishing near you on the 02/21-22 line. Sorry about your boat trouble.
