Took a ride to Lorain yesterday and had a very good day on the water, boated limits with an average weight of 4.4lbs. No monsters but we had 3 over 6 lbs. All caught on harnesses, Xmas tree with blue holographic willow blades was best with orange beads & blade next best. Jet 40's 165' back and d'rigger set at 41' in 44-46 FOW. Most of our fish were caught within 400' of one single WP near 33/13.

The bar has been on fire. Smashed them yesterday and today. Off the water early. A little north west of where you were. Harness bite. Oranges yesterday, purple today. Nice fish.

Steve, is the bar the same as what the locals call the sand piles?
BTW I checked the gps today and we were closer to 33/15.

I don't know what locals you are talking about. I've never heard of the sand piles. The area north between Vermilion and Lorain is the Sandbar. That's all I've ever heard it called. Bob Y.

I was at the bar today. LOTS of boats to the east but no nets were flying. Chatter on the radio was that the bite was SLOW. Pulled only 4 fish and none were over three pounds. TUES-7:30-2:30

Bob, I was referring to the locals around Lorain, if your one of them and don't know about the spot you didn't need to sound as if it doesn’t exist because you never heard of it.
The spot I’m referring to I believe is small, not the entire area from Vermilion to Lorain. I think but I'm not certain that it runs roughly from 33/19 to 37/21. That’s why I was asking Steve about it.

NetMinder- I live about an hour from Lorain, so I don't get to mingle with the locals much, if at all (besides stopping in the local Kwik E Mart in the morning for ice and smokes).

I have never heard of any sand piles by the locals or anyone else, and I've been fishing the Lorain area waters for about twenty years.

I'm sure Bob didn't mean to sound condescending in any way. He's a good guy and a straight shooter. I've fished with him.

What is the "secret Jake-hole"? Is that a spot on the Sand Bar too? I've never heard of the sand piles either, but I'm not as familiar with the area as some.

Aren't sand piles what you get on your Jake-hole from sittin' at the Sand bar too long?
