Next week (Sep 19) is beginning to look good for another trip to Lake Erie for us. Have not been to Dunkirk this summer but would like to give that area a try for a few 'eyes. Anyone have any advice to offer about the current "bite" out of Dunkirk (or Barcelona?) We must drive a bit over 300 miles each way to get to the Lake and would like to have some idea about our chances of catching a few 'eyes before making our final decision about where to give it a try. Thanks in advance for any info offerred.

Hopefully, Gilligan will see, and reply to this post. He has been running alot of charters from Barcelona Harbor this summer and has been doing very well.

Barcelona is and has been the best NY bite this year. Lots of trash fish (silver bass) in the mid 60-80'with walleye mixed in. Look deeper for fewer but bigger walleye and very few junk fish. Been fishing 95' to 125'for mixed catch of walleye and steelhead. I have spent most of the season going west out of harbor fishing the most western 4 miles of NY water right to the Pa line. Fish are deep 200' to 240' on big dipsies and Contender spoons were best today.
