Is John Martin going to be open to fising come March 20 or is it gonna be closed becuase of the snow geese season? Thanks

According to our beloved D.O.W. the fishing at John Martin is closed until all waterfowl seasons are closed wether they are special seasons or not. However the state record saugeye was caucht on John Martin during the month of Feb.(record may have been broken since) prompting me to ask "whats up with this). I was then told by some locals in Lamar that if you land on the west end of the lake on high water years you can fish up the reservoir from lookout point west. Call to Lamar or Las Animas and talk to them for the exact details. Good Luck Jeff
