I was fishing on the reefs this past weekend and struggled a little on Saturday and limited on Suday. Got a grand total of 3 in the boat on Sat, between three of us. (yes i caught one, one guy caught two the other guy NADA)Sunday was east wind a little chilli. We marked way more fish on the reef and just off the reef Sunday than Saturday. I guess the all day sun warmed them up a bit. Fish were very pale and not active. Had to hit them on the head. Purple, chartruse were the colors of the day. Did try trolling cleaner water by d can and didnt get anything. had good marks though. With the weather this weekend it will be tough, but it should get turned on pretty good the next two weeks. They are there, they will get hungry.
See ya then!

Fished the reefs on Monday, which was actually a beautiful day, 3 of us in the boat got no fish. Couldn't beleive it! Thought for sure it would be a perfect day. Did see some fish caught but not many. Tried out at crib reef and tousaint reef as well as the K can area. Was very surprized the vast majority of fish we marked were up off of the bottom and most of the marks we did see were suspended over the deeper water off of crib, not many marks in close or on the reefs. We tried blade baits and jigs of various colors. My dad did have ahold of a couple fish but lost them, probably snagged. I have never seen so many logs floating around in that area before, anybody going out there needs to pay close attention to the water as they are running, some of those logs could do so major damage if you hit them at high speed. Water temps ranged from 39 out at crib to 43 closer in the muddy water. They've got to turn on one of these days.

We had two boats with us yesterday. Six people total. Everyone got their limit. Purple jigs at K Can.

They turned on on Tuesday? Sounds about right, we are generally either a day late or a day early. Good job.

It wasn't fast and furious. We really had to work for them.
The trick for us yesterday was to use a lighter jig than we normally would have used, and get it away from the boat. We had 1/2 oz jigs, and anywhere from 75-100 feet of line dragging behind us. With yesterday's conditions, I would usually have a 3/4 ozer out.
