I recently won a 6'6" Pinnacle Deadbolt spinning rod with a Shimano reel at our local Walleyes for Tomorrow banquet. Does anyone know anything about this rod? Will it be a good jig rod?

Hey - Free is free! :-) Free is good! I have a ML Pinnacle TriWing that I really like. I'd buy another if I could find one. I haven't fished w/ the Deadbolt....what is the description on the side of the rod? (i.e. 66ML2 or something like that)

The last years as well as this years models rods are excellent.
Nice blanks excellent guides, and nice balance. They build in a weight in the butt of the rod to get perfect balance.

If this is a rod of this year or last - it should be a very good one.

The rods of 3 years ago - were made with a very high modulus that was quite brittle. Many broken rods were returned for warrenty replacement - with no questions asked.

Pinnicle reformulated their graphite - to allow for a bit lower modulus - but much more durable - and very little weight gain =-- and have been just fine for the last couple of years.

The reel is outstanding. The deadbolt is (in general) a very fine reel.

Take care and enjoy your fine equipment.
