I was just checking out the exchanges between Ufda , Stump and CMB.
I will have to say I HATE when people attack someone personally on this Site.
However, It is the Passion, Compassion, and Warmth I see and feel when everyone
expresses their feeling, opinions and apologies in a constructive way. This brings me to
my warm feeling.
I was at work (Downtown Mpls,.MN. IDS Building) looking out the window at frozen
Lakes a few miles out. A memory came to me……… When I asked my Wife for her Hand!
See, my family has this sort-of tradition of proposing on the water or cabin.
So, I wanting to keep with this tradition I was at out cabin and had asked her Parents in advance.
Here is the twist… I had chosen Dec 8th why? I don't know. We were at the cabin and it just
seemed like the time. So, I told her I was going out to Ice Fish. I had a 10' Sears aluminum boat
down by the lake shore. So, when I figured I was clear I pulled out the boat and put down a horse
blanket on the center seat. (Did I say it was cold?) I was a little out of breath (Asthmatic and out of shape). Know to get the (future) wife out here. Luckily I had put up some X-Mas light in a White Pine we have in front. (Via 50' ladder and make-shift hand extension) So, when the mood was right (Steak and Wine helped out!) I asked her if she would like to go out and look at the
(Great?) view from the lake. After 10 minutes off apparel stacking (Did I say it was cold?) we were off. Down we went, and headed out to the boat. About half way my wife noticed the boat and said "Oh! Someone left their boat out?" (God Bless Her!). I just said "Hum" and kept walking.
We get there and she sees the blanket and catches on. So, we look at the lighted tree and cuddle saying ooh and ahh! When I (Guess) the mood am right I drop to the knee and mumble a few words. She accepts this proposal and me!
This is my warm feeling …
Don't let ol' Man Winter stop your warmth!
Any other outdoor proposals out there?
