I'm not familiar with lure retrievers. What are they? Do they
work well? Is one model better than the others? I fish in a lake with a lot of weeds. Thanks.

I have a lure retriever on board my boat and have paid for it many times by recovering crankbaits that have somehow gotten snagged up in rocks or timber.
The particular model I have is one with a weighted ring and treble on it that slides down the line to your lure. You then attempt to snag your crankbait and return it to the boat using the 200# test line connected to the lure retrieval system.
A word of warning is that in current it usually takes two people to pull off getting your lure back. In a lake setting I have recovered the lure by myself. It is helpful however to have one person handle the rod and snagged lure and one person handle the lure retrieval unit. Then if the wind or current is involved it may take a third person to control the boat above the snagged lure.
You will pay for it just by recovering two crankbaits. Well worth it I think.

Hi,
I use and really like the hound dog from Bass Pro. This has worked well for me and saved me lots of $$$$$'s.
