Tough Guy find discount Fireline in Tough Wife sewing basket...every color in rainbow. Tough Guy read on mighty walleye site use palomar knot. Tough Guy no boyscout, only know clinch knot and tie my shoe knot. Practice all weekend tying blood knot to mono and palomar knot to tackle. Tough Guy learn new trade, maybe look for new career. Palomar knot need doubled up line to go through tackle twice or is once OK? Once more easy for Tough Guy, less line through eyelet, keep knot neater. Knot strength questionable this way?

Hey Tough Guy. One time, doubled up is all you need for the palomar knot. Even a tough guy wont be able to pull this apart.

Hi Toughguy, once thru the eye with the line doubled is fine. I use this knot with 6# fireline for vertical jigging the Fox in DePere, and when snagged, I can bend the hook to get the jig out and the line doesn't break! When pulling on a snagged jig, be sure to wear gloves, or better yet, wrap the line around a wooden dowel and then pull, otherwise you will cut your fingers!

Once through with the line doubled is plenty good enough. I use a QuTip dipped in Mineral Oil to touch to the tightened knot to make the line slide easily into the "final" knot. Works great for superlines AND florocarbon lines and doesn't hurt anything and is a lot better than trying to wet with your spit or lake water. I keep several on the boat/tacklebox by keeping 4 or 5 QuTips in an old prescription bottle after dipping the QuTips in the Mineral Oil, nice and neat.
On the HOME page, here at WC, are instructions for a number of fishing knots.

Tough Guy better use back to back uni knot tying mono to fireline or Tough Guy and Tougher Fish will soon part. Look on the knot page of WC which you can find off of the main page.

Tough Guy thank all helpers. Question for Mac. Blood knot different from back to back uni-knot? Blood knot instructions say high strength knot to join two lines with a low profile. This no good Mac? What blood knot good for, if not for this?
Blood know good for mono to mono. Back to back uni better for mono to fireline. Also uni easier to tie and draw down.
