I would like to hear some feed back on the Power Pro line. I now am using fire line and like it for pulling snap weights not so much for long lining in water 20 feet and under. How does the Power Pro compare. Thanks for any info you give.
Spring is right around the corner here in Iowa, only calling for 5 inches of snow tonight!!!!!!!!

Fishing-wise, I think they fish real similar. The PowerPro, being braided, doesn't fray like Fireline, but after a while the color wears off. I don't think that's a bad thing though, as the line becomes softer with less memory. I put PowerPro on all my 27LC reels, but I still have Fireline on a few. No sense replacing the Fireline until it's ready. But when the time comes, I'll replace it with PowerPro.
this is just my personal opinion, i like the power pro better. used both, less problems with the power pro. both are good, but like i said my personal opinion. good luck and good fishin.

Went to Power Pro last year. I think it's a keeper.

I put Powerpro on a couple of my rods two years ago. After a while, the line turned white. It bothered me enough that I didnt want to use it anymore. At a time when I have been thinking about going to Vanish, I guess I am just not comfortable with white line. Has anyone else had this problem? Has Powerpro solved this problem with newer releases of this line?

One interesting point. I bought some Power Pro recently because of all the good comments here. However, I was disappointed to find that the labelling is misleading. It claims that the 20# is 6# mono equivalent and the 10" is 2# mono equivalent with respect to diameter. This just IS NOT TRUE. Both the 20# and 10# Power Pro have a much thicker diameter than stated. Each is at least .002-.003" larger than advertised (by micrometer). You can see the difference by eye which is how I picked it up to begin with. This does not negate the value of the Power Pro, but just don't think that for a given pound test it is lower diameter than Fireline. The advantage of Fireline is that there are more sizes to choose from (6, 10, 14, & 20 vs. just 10 & 20 for Power Pro).

PowerPro actually has more options than that. Check out their Web site at http://www.powerpro.com.
Good fishing.

You are right, GD, that there are many more options on line size for Power Pro, but all of them are heavier. I should have been more specific saying that at the lower tests (up to 20#) fireline has 4 options whereas PowerPro has 2.

I use the 30lb test on my trolling rigs, which I also use for pulling bottom bouncers. I've caught everything on these rigs from lake trout, rainbows, kokanee, walleye, and I even perch fish with them sometimes.
I think PowerPro is the key to these rigs' versatility.

A green indelible marker will sove your white line problem and save you money replacing that high dollar power pro.
