Anybody out there using these on their boat? If so, what is your opinion?

Thanks, Trophy19!

Pretty much of a (literal and figurative) pain in the butt.

They depend on having an assortment of springs, depending on who is in the boat, and where they are going to sit. Sometimes I might be fishing with my 250# neighbor, another time with my 125# bride, and another time with my 35# grand-daughter. I'd have to change springs to accomodate each. It's a dump huck design!

I used them last year and really liked them. They are easy to remove out of the floor. There are no clips or buttons which make removing the seat a job in itself. My partner and I are both about the same weight so we use the same springs. We have the adjustable. You dont have to worry about the spring wearing out in 2 years like all the air ride seats.

In regards to changing springs, it only takes 2 seconds. It takes more time to tie your shoe then it does to change the spring.

The fact that there are no clips to hold the thing in caused me some grief. The whole thing actually popped out once and spilled my guest onto the floor. After that I found I could never bring myself to trust them.I've also had others tell me it's like sitting on a pogo stick. I'm happy that Big C is getting good use out of his though.

I'm a bit more over 200 than I care to confess, but I enjoy the EZ ride. I use mine only on the pedestal seat at the wheel. The passengers, when I have them, can make do with the factory pedestals. It's great if you have had lumbar problems.

You have an engineering problem that they solved rather well.
For big waves, you need a seat with at least 6 inches of movement. You have that.
For different riders with different weights - you need a different ride setting - you have that with the quick change springs.

Any other seating system that has both the adjustability and range of motion -- tends to be limited to a very fixed mount aparatus that is in the $300- $400 range.

I think that E-Z rider has a great product that works very well for its intended purpose at a reasonable price.

We used ours mostly on the pedestal seat also. I think that is where they work the best.

I wonder, if E-Z rider needs to check out the current boating regulations. Although I think that these are a great product, I think that we might have a liability issue with current law.

If you check out all of the drivers seats in current production boats -- they all have the ability to be locked in a straight a head driving position. My under standing is that this is a current requirement for all boats of a certain size -- per coast guard requirements.

I don't have a copy of the regulation in front of me, but I can't argue with the idea of having a locked straight ahead drivers seat.

Take care and enjoy the ride -- but it might not hurt to check the regulations.

I have been boarded by the Coast Guard perhaps 10 times over a 30 year period on Lake Michigan. I recall nothing about a fixed position seat at the helm. Three of my four boats did not have it -- the one that did has been replaced with EZ. I received no citations for any safety or equipment violations.

Are you saying that you have one for sale?

I would if the boat I was fishing out of was mine.Funny how a bad experience can really taint your views on a product. Sounds like most people like theirs just fine.
