I bought an X-15mt and I have been trying to get some information from Lowrance and navionic on mapping software that will be avaliable but with little results. Navionics said that they may have some out in late spring but they did not sound very reassuring. Is there other maps avaliable for my unit.

When you purchase the GPS kit for the x15, you get Lowrance's CD Rom, actually two CD Roms with the package which you can customize and download on to the included 8MB cartridge that comes with it.

Thank you for your reply but I don't think I asked the right question. I had a 160 on my last boat and I liked the countour lines that could be downloaded from a navionics chart and I was wondering if any similar software/chip is avaliable for the X-15.

Jake, Check out Navionics web site, they sell Hot spot maps for some lakes and are working on more. They sell the maps in 3 formats including Lowrance Echart.

I am looking at the Global Map 3000 and have the same concern. Navionics told me the FHS Hotmaps would not be available until June, and the cd rom that comes with the unit is virtually useless as it does not show bottom structure and contour lines, humps reefs etc...I called Lowrance and when expressing my concerns to a lady in customer service,( I won't reveal her name ) she kept telling me that bottom structure and contour was what my sonar was for! I was under the impression that she wasn't very well informed of the capabilities of the unit manufactured by the company she works for! She also told me that she would call Navionics regarding availability of the Hotmaps and get back to me. That was a week ago, and no callback yet! I also called Lakemaster Lakemaps in Mn. and their maps are not yet compatable with the Global Map 3000 either. www.lakemap.com 1-800-540-5747

Just had contact with Navionics this week and I can tell you there are more than 100 new HotMaps on the way to market! The holdup, as I'm told, has been with format changes and necessary conversions at Lowrance. All new electronics are capable, however, of using a non-converted version and should be available at the end of the month.

Navionics is also going through some software upgrades that are sure to make their product even more useful. These new e-charts will feature a new data format that will offer all FHS information on the screens for users.

If we hear anything else, it'll be posted here.

Mike will these new maps be available for use with the new MMC chips that are used with the x-15? or will they be down loadable to those chips off our pc's? Thanks for the info, tr

Tomr...

As far as I know, the unit will receive Navionics data. Where it goes from there I'm not sure. Lowrance would have the info.
