View Full Version : MWC Respect
I read this on a post awhile back and was wondering what you all thought about this??
"I really think the NPAA is missing the boat on the MWC.If it was not for that circuit the PWT would not be here. I fished both the PWT and MWC and have went back to the MWC. I see more boats in the MWC with NPAA numbers than the PWT. You do not see many from the top 100 but they did not have a chance with the PWT guys scooping them all up. I see alot of PWT guys coming in to fish a tourney or 2 throughout the year and they have do not have an easy time competing with the MWC guys. I feel that by not doing anything in the MWC is a slap in the face by the same guys who are on the board of the NPAA and got their start on the MWC circuit. Please take a look again at the MWC it's not the Minor leagues."

cory, this isn't an easy game to get respect in. lot's of excellent competitors trying to win everyday on the water. my suggestion is simple; keep things in perspective and have fun. also, support the organizations and circuits that you feel are in line with your thinking. if your agenda isn't supported by the npaa, continue to voice your opinion and let them know what you feel are the real issues. as far as the low numbers, say goodbye to them; they are apparently gone!

I've been fishing the mwc on and off for the past 12 years. they need to change and change now. they need bigger payouts. thats why everybody's jumping to the pwt and the rcl. if you want to fish the mwc go ahead, but don't plan on making any money

It's what you can afford. Fact of the matter is...it's harder to win on the MWC than any-other circuit. Keep in mind. Gary Roach, Ted Takasaki, etc. all got their start on the MWC and they would be the first to tell you that if it wasn't for the MWC, there probably wouldn't be any pro-walleye fishing. Don't knock any of the circuits!

I think you are wrong my friend. The MWC doesn't need to change their payout structure. You and they need to remember, the MWC is the Premier TEAM Walleye Circuit. Jim Kalkofen and Kaz have taken the MWC to where it was 2 years ago. last year was not such a bad year either, and I suspect this year will be a good one as well, dispite the low number of Early Registered circuit teams. Fact is, except for the RCL, no circuit has a better percentage payback. No other circuit has done for conservation issues like the MWC. No other circuit has so many Brothers, friends, cousins, father and son, father and daugter, husband and wife and good friends fishing the same tournies. The MWC has always been the premier family and friend Team circuit. They have never tried to bill themselves otherwise. Some call it the farm club, I dislike that moniker. Start naming big names in the Walleye Biz, Roach, Parsons, McCleland, Probst, Plautz, Gofron and on and on and on. They all started the same place. The MWC does not compete with the PWT (deliberately) for anglers. Nor does the PWT compete with the MWC. Each is an entity in their own right. Each has a different format, each has their own longtime Pro's. Basically, if you want a shot at a higher payout, fish the PWT or the RCL.

Cory:
I guess I don't know what you mean by saying the NPAA does not give the MWC a chance. I have fished the MWC since day 1, I started there, and plan to return there some day. I have different persuits, at this time. I have not fished the MWC for the past 2 yrs, only because of time frames, and very busy schuedle. This happens to most who have choose to move to PWT. I did fish both circuits for 5 yrs, but that got to be too much, and times where conflicting. Yes, I got my start in fishing career at the MWC, and still have the utmost respect for the teams fishing the MWC. Sometimes, I think I am even jealous of all who fish the MWC. I know the MWC, has been the starting place for all who are at the PWT, or RCL. That is something for the MWC to be proud of, not disappointed in! I think, that maybe, the MWC should hold a "Old Timers even", I would love to come back, even if it was to just sit around and talk.
As far as the competition, the MWC people are the toughest!
As far as the NPAA #'s There are always #'s that come available from the top 100, and when those do, the NPAA puts the out for silent auction, In fact, they just auctioned off 4 numbers. That notice was in the news letter.
I miss fishing the MWC with all the nice people out there, but some day in near future, you can count on it, I will show up to fish one or two, maybe even the whole circut.
To All MWC'ers Good Luck, your the Best,
Tight Lines,
