Backing mono...

I'm going to be spooling on some thin diameter Power Pro line. Is a heavy weight mono any better for backing than a medium weight?
(in terms of lessening likelihood of the Power Pro burying into the mono)

I think I heard from somewhere, that using similiar diam. line works best. On my 10 lb. PowerPro, I back with 6 lb. mono. Has worked so far. Power Pro is rounder than fireline and won't bury as bad.
