Surgen was right...the discussion about the quality of fishing (or lack thereof) belongs in general discussion. Sorry..I got carried away. In response to his last post, Wisconsin sportsmen and other concerned citizens have until the end of the week to make concerns known to their CC representatives (sorry for the short notice). However, if enough anglers can get together to suggest changes for a particular area it might be possible to get a meeting with a Wis DNR fisheries biologist and discuss the implications of size and limit reg. changes.

In answer to your other question about data, I'm not sure what ongoing surveys are conducted on the Wisconsin river with respect to walleye populations, but the DNR ought to have information as well as a "contact" person for the area.

Just as a personal note...after 10 years of college, I'll always be a biologist (no "former" to it) retired or otherwise. You know what they say, once a nerd always a nerd.

Thanks for the response...let's see what can be done about improving the fishing in Wisconsin.
