Boy that depends on a lot of stuff?
What type of waters do you fish?
The Lake Erie boy's and girls will say Reef Runners by the case, LOL! :)
I am a shallow river rat type guy so and I would say Husky suspending Raps, Salmo Bullhead's, Phelps Floaters, Mack's Smile spinners, jigs, lot's of twisters and plastics, stuff like that.
Spinners & Lindy rigs, Yup-need them too, if you troll or drift flats.
Best toss out a general idea of were you do your most fishing and for what types of species.

Jerry,
Get out the credit card and call Cabelas and Den at The Sportsmans Outpost! Rapalas, jigs, worm harrnesses, Reef Runners, Rapala Tail Dancers, Smithwick Rouges. That should keep you busy till May 1st. Say hi to Alechia for me! Talk to you later, and your welcome for the help. JJ

Altho not often touted, be sure to pick up a few Wally Divers. They are relatively inexpensive and they produce well. My best color is chartruese with black tiger pattern. And, every tackle box ought to have several Shad Raps in #5,7, and 9. Go with perch, black/silver, blue/silver and chartruese.
And, that's just a start.

I think each year the fish make a deal with the tackle manufactures. Whatever I don't have in my tacklebox will be the hot bait this year. I am just starting to buy some Rapala Taildancers because this is the new lure of the year and I am sure Rapala has made a deal with the Walleyes to only bite on these. Since the lure is expensive ($6.99 around here), I think that the fish probably held out for a good deal this year. Pretty soon the Walleyes will own everything.
I need spring.... Bad.

I sell tackle for Dick's Sporting Goods. No one ever has the hot lure. It's like the magic lure. I have people come in every day looking for this or that as someone had it the other day and caught a bunch of fish on it. A week later they are back looking for something else because that didn't work. The hot walleye lures depend on where you are fishing and how. Most any crank type bait will work at one time of the other. Rapala, Storm, Wally Diver, Ripstick, Rattle Traps etc. Spoons also and in a variety of colors. Michigan Stinger Spoons in confusion, oil slick, monkey puke, shrimp. watermelon, dirty white boy, pearch, boy/girl etc. Worm Harnesses and Erie Dearies also. Good Luck.

I fish Pa for eyes in the susqehanna river and for deep areas I nail em with wally divers (gold), and for the most part large shiners on Orange floating jigheads .
Glad to help. I can't a straight answer out of these people at least your getting some help good luck
jerry,
I use what the others have stated. But when the fishing gets tough, try tippin the front treble with a 1-2 inch piece of crawler. Sometimes this helps.
