Driving home yesterday after work with the windows rolled down sure was a treat and a real booster to the old bean.

We lost 4" of snow pack in highest temp since Nov, 7th and more mid 40's to come this weekend. Hold on MN the melt is coming and none to soon. Whew!

Even the river in front of the Black Dog plant is peaking through the ice. Oh man, those rods hanging in the shed have never looked better!

You said it, Aquaman! With 9 inches of new snow on Monday, I was really down, but yesterday's warm-up was a welcome sign of spring. Hope we can melt some more away today.

Best Regards,

Stever

If it doesn't go soon, I'm afraid my roof will. We had 6 inches Monday, but it was god-awful heavy.

Ya might want to pull some of that snow off. A guy in MPLS lost his garage from the weight right after he parked the car in it. That's gonna leave a mark! Ouch!

In Milwaukee this winter over 40 people fell off their roofs abd ended in the hospital while getting the snow off. One guy died. He was using a snowblower on his roof when he fell off....Be careful out there.

Hmmm, lemme think about that one. Whoa! That guy must not have read the warning lable on the snow blower. Sad, but perfect case of stupid is as stupid does.

There are roof rakes that extend to reach the overhangs and beyond of most 2 story homes. Be smart and invenst in one.

AuqaMan, I hear ya, I just hope that I can hold on long enough, Just ordered the new X-15 and am in the process of putting together tackle and supply orders. The new boats on the way and am getting signed up for some tourny's. The clock doesn't seem to be ticking any faster though, just my pulse. We've been hammerin the crappies up on Red and the Walleye action should really pick up on LOTW soon. Ya gotta love that! Oh ya the looper action on Superior isn't to bad now either. Whats this world coming to? Sure glad I don't have to work more than 40 hours a week 'cause thats waaaaay to much. TM

Stupid is as stupid does reminds me of a story (hopefully fiction) about two lawyers who tried to trim a hedge, each one holding on to the side of a lawn mower, with predictable bloody results. Didn't see anything about that when I went to law school....

We be gonna ice fish for a long time in WI. But I have bags of good stuff to hang onto the boat. And another trip to Mpls to be suckered into more stuff. New GPS mount, Zercom 2000 mounting, moving rod holders, VHF antenna etc... Just like mom rearranging the house. My onliest problem is getting it outta the snow bank so I can do it. In the meantime, gills are hitting fine.

Waves slapping on the hull are almost as good as sleeping in a tent with the pitter patter of rain. Just doesn't get any better!!!

Lets enjoy our time. Lets also share it with others, young, old, handicapped. We all go around once, lets make the most of ours and who ever we can share with.

Not preaching, just all of a sudden have lost major friends and role models, gained almost fishing aged grand kids, and spend time with great folk on the water.

T-Mac, Just curious. What tournaments are you signed up for? I only signed up for one so far, the Leech Lake Mercury Classic.

I dragged my rig from it's winter napping spot last Monday and seen a Bo-Bo.

I had removed all my new deep cycle batteries but one, my newest high dollar Minn-Kota, Oh-Boy!

I though well this baby is shot with all the -30 this winter and never starting the rig for 2 months. I hooked her up to the big boat motor and RRRR-RR--ROOOOM away she went, WOW. Tested it and it was solid so I put her on the slow charger and it looks ok, I think I got lucky. Hope it has all it's muscle yet, time will tell?

The river is just starting to show hope of a thaw and I make daily trips to the boat ramp to measure how far the ice has to recede tell I can launch the Titanic again.

I was bellow Kidder Dam on the Red a couple of years back very early and the ice flow from the Boise De Sioux cam over the dam. Good thing I ad a real small light boat and I did a anchor rope portage drag up into the woods to avoid a crushing ice mass. Played cast between the chunks the rest of the day tell it was clear to launch again and find my way back to the ramp. Thing was the walleye were on the chew, what's a bit of danger EH? LOL!

This year is still a ways off tell I would dare to try that stunt again, and my boat now would not portage well even with 4 big guys on the rope but most likely just crunch under the ice.

Spring fever yup-ya-betch-ya, full blown white knuckle open water madness is more like it!
