I usually rent boats for the weekends and was hoping to buy a fish finder. A portable one would be best for me right? Just how long will it take me to hook one up on a boat and can I do it when the boat is in the water. I'm clueless so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A no-brainer. With units like the Eagle/Lowrance, just use a suction cup to attach the transducer to the transom and press a few buttons. Just as easy with the Bottom Line Fishin Buddys, but I don't think these are as good or as reliable. Check the Swap Board in a little while for a used portable unit I am listing.

I would recommend the Bottom Line Fishin Buddy. Very easy to set up and use. Also uses flashlight batteries so you don't need to carry a lot of weight.
