I just bought a 2-bank on-board charger. What do I do with the extra leads if I only charge one battery? Can I connect both to one battery for more charging?

Timber,

All depends on the model charger you have. If it is the 2611, you need to hook both outputs up to your single battery. If you have a model 2620 you can just tape up one of the outputs.

Sue,
I bought a Guest charger last fall because of all the information you give us here. It works great. I love it.
My green light to my starting battery blinks. Does that mean anything? I have a three bank charger.
thanks,
Bucko

Bucko,

The blinking light on the start battery means that your battery is fully charged and being maintained at low amperage. And that the start bank is working perfectly.

Have a great day!

I just picked up a 2623 from Bass Pro. Scanned the installation documents, it appears this thing generate a fair amount of heat? Will there be a problem if I mount it in my rear battery compartment which is actually quite large. I have one battery back there, but there is room for about 4 batteries. I will not be mounting my trolling batteries there, they will be going up front in the floor. Also, does this thing need to mounted vertically (on a wall) rather than horizontally on a floor? Oh yeah, one more, might there be a problem if I lengthen the leads to reach the fron batteries?

Thanks

Grey Wolf,

The 2623 does get warm, however the location you mention would be fine. Mounting is best done on a wall, however you can mount the charger on the floor if you use standoffs to raise it up about 1 inch. And yes, you can extend the leads. I would use 12-14 gauge wire. Just make sure that the DC fuse stays in the circuit.

Have a great day!

Sue: Dan again, can I assume that it will be ok for me to mount my 2631 flat on the floor also? It sure would make instalation a breeze. Thanks

Dan,

Yes, you can as long as you use standoffs to raise the charger off the floor for extra air circulation.

Have a great day!

Sue,
I have a Cabela's Model 800 made by Guest. Two bank charger. Must I "tape-up" one pair of connections if charging one battery, or can I "hook" both to the same battery to get more charging amps? Thank you!

Timber,

With the Cabela's model 800 you must hook both leads up to your single battery. You will drive the charger crazy if only one lead is hooked to a battery.

Have a great day!
