Been trying everything that I know and not even a bump,We're fishin all our hot spots and comin up empty. What the #####.
Water temps are pretty low yet , river level is perfect, the bait is livelier than ##### and still nothin. I have noticed a lot of stone flys emerging I mean lots of em and we haven't even broke 45 degrees yet. Are the eyes feeding on them?? We did get 2 nice muskies but I am a walleye maniac even though the season ended yesterday until May . I don't have a problem with catch and release. I'm in NE PA Fishin the Susquehanna River.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated...

If the season is closed, then the season is closed, isn't it?

(Or am I missing something here?)

Gee Deadeye, sounds like me once and a while. Did you spit on your worm? Sometimes nothing seems to work. Too bad they cant read your post. They'd probably all be down there grinnin. We all cant look like Stu Peduso. I guess thats why they call it "Fishin" and not "Ketchin"! :-) ;-) Russell

Nick, I fish the Susky just north of you on the NY side..at least I did until it closed yesterday. They close the river to ALL fishing in our stretch during the spawn. We were getting some nice eyes until a few weeks ago, then it shut right down! With the water a bit low & slow, we downsized on both the jigs and minnows plus slowed our presentation way down. They don't want to chase anything in cold water. I caught more on my dead-stick than the rod in my hand! By now, they should be in the shallower rocky areas. I'd head upstream to the first impassable barrier. Good Luck and let us know how you do! As for this board..with the right approach, you can gain a wealth of knowledge from these guys! Good Fishing, Sluggo

If the walleye season is closed, how can you legally go walleye fishing on Saturday?

Where I live you can still fish you just can't keep any, even with that in mind we don't pick on spawning eye's. They usually don't spawn until mid - April unless we have an early spring wich is not the case this year.

Thankyou for your input Sluggo and everyone else. I nabbed a 29 incher!!!! 9.2 lbs. biggest walleye I ever caught in the susquehanna river!!!! To bad I had to put " her" back, It was a female fat as a pig, I didn't have a camera but I do have a witness.
I got em in a rocky shallow area, on the break of some rapids on the edge of a large dead water.
caught em on a large shiner , fl. orange floating jighead.
I Just let it sit there for about 15 minutes and bam!!
You have to try rapala line it's awesome. Thanks again!!

I think I would run that past the Waterways Conservation Officer first before you get in trouble. They don't allow that for trout in PA cant imagine allowing it for another species.

The only waters you cannot fish after the season closes is trout approved waters in other words you cannot fish those waters that are stocked by the state. The susquehanna river is not a trout stream, nor is it stocked with trout!!

You should really research things before commenting!!
What's a matter you never caught a Walleye any where near that big?? I'm sorry to hear that. waaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaa

cry baby waaaaaaaaaaaaa

What is wrong with you JERK

I would hope that if someone thought I was possibly outside the law that they would try to help out in clarifying a law. Research things.. I said you ought to check and make sure its legal. Not worth a fine and losing a license over. Try to help out I did and you come off as some bleeping #%& hole with your comments.

Going fishing after a long winter still dosent seem to help your sorry $&* ed attitude.

I have been getting some sarcasm from anglers who can't fish at all until the walleye season comes back in, so I guess I took your reply the wrong way, and for that I am sorry!!
That would piss me off too, if I was tryin to help somebody.
I am very grateful to be able to throw a jig around Legally and not have to wait til May. It doesn't put any in the freezer but it sure beats the heck out of sittin around the house with the wife.

Again my apologies, and Fish On My Friend!!!!
