Please tell me if a 55# maxxum 12volt would be OK for 17ft boat? also how long does batterys last before you have to charge if your running it at 50percent allday if in fact it will last all day. Thanks

You should do fine with 55 lbs. of thrust. You might want to watch out for interference on your depthfinder...that can happen sometimes with the variable speed control.

As far as "running time" at 50% output, that's dependent on your battery...it's size, condition and level of charge.
