Are you unable to read the post? The person asked for information about a certain type of boat. If you have FIRST hand information on this boat, be it good or bad, then that is what the person is asking. A little comon sense and courtesy can go along ways...Dan

Go to Boats and Motors and look in # 5 in the archives. There's a couple of posts there.

Hi Showtime: I have run the Fisher 170 Hawk on both big and small water. It is by far the best riding aluminum boat I have ever ridden in!!!
The long rake to the bow and the reverse chine construction of the hull make for a smooth dry ride. The added Strakes on the bottom of the hull also add to the ride making it the closest thing you will get to a glass boat in the aluminum line.
I too like the layout very much. It has lots of space for fishing as well as for storage and the front anchor locker even has a light inside it for if you are out at night. Another thing I like is the rotary switches on the dash for live wells and lights. You don't inadvertently turn one on by mistake and kill the battery. I also like the fact that you can mount a kicker on the transom without having to get extra brackets etc. The little step just on the inside of the gunwale is the perfect height to mount Atwood or other brands like that of rod holders. They have even got panic handles for the passengers to hang onto in the rear seats.
Over all it is a great boat!
Now Before someone jumps my case about it. I did have a problem with mine last year. I got a boat that was the victim of sabotage from a disgruntled worker at a plant that was closing last year. The hull had a problem, HOWEVER, with the Fisher Fish Forever Waranty, It was replaced Free of charge for me! That's right Replaced Free!!! With that waranty and the great folks at fisher to back it up like they did you can't go wrong with this boat.
E-mail me sometime Showtime and let me know where you are and stuff and I'll see what I can do for you.
I was so impressed with the Fisher Line and the folks at the plant that I am now on thier Pro Staff and will be fishing for them in the PWT this year.
Hope this helped you a bit

Hi I bought a Fisher Pro angler 17 and have had it on some pretty rough water and it handles it just fine. Look at all the storage in a boat and the things fyou are looking in a boat, size accessories, width, color, motor, do not buy on impulse make sure that it works for you. I see a lot of people impulse buy then regret it later. Good a little bigger if you can afford it say 17 over a 16 for room or comfort. think about it before you do it. I really like my Fisher but my last boat was a 18ft deaster,my fault because I jumped into it to fast.I will not name boats. good luck Jim

Hi Derb Good to hear from you again. I've tried to e-mail you a couple times but it wouldn't go through for some reason.
Glad to hear you like your Fisher they are great boats arent they. The 90 hp motor you got was a great choice. It really does a nice job on that boat.
I'm running the Glass Fisher this year and it is awsome. I still really like the 170 Hawk though I think it is a great boat.
Write me some time when you want to come up to Erie and we'll go out togather.

I agree completely. Some of these guys "just don't get it". If you ask them what time it is, they answer "buy a Ranger" or something else completely unrelated to the question. And for Dave in Mpls, I don't sell or own a Fisher.

I purchased a 97 Spectrum which was made by Fisher. After only 1 year of use it had 4 holes in it where the weld failed. I fought with the repair center for 4 months wanting them to replace it. After 5 months they repaired it and sent it back to me. IT LOOKED LIKE @#$%. I contacted the corperate office and fought with them for a couple more months. Finally after threatning to take them to court they sent me a new boat. The quality of this one was not much better than the repaired one. I traded it before it ever seen any water. I would strongly advise NOT to purchase anything from Fisher

I have an older 18' Fisher (92) when they were still New Brunswick. They sold out to Tracker and seem to have carried on the good tradition. The half dozen owners I've talked with have all been satisfied. It has been very dependable. I fish Erie east basin alot and it has handled the rough water well, but isn't a real dry ride. My next boat will probably be glass but wouldn't hesitate to go Fisher again if I would do aluminum. As far as the other post about Spectrum being owned by Fisher, that may have been a boat line they got stuck with when New Brunswick sold out. If they are owned by Fisher (actually they would be owned by Tracker in that case) they certainly aren't built by them. When New Brunswick sold their line it consisted of about 5 different boats. I believe Sylvan was part of that and they went to Starcraft.

Procraft, Astro, Fisher are owned by the Marine group. The Fisher FX 18 DV is Made in the Procraft plant in Tennesee. So there can be some difference in Quality depending on where the boat was made.... Dan
