Wondering if anyone fishes the Black River/eastern basin of Lake Ontario for spring run of eyes? I am interested in making a trip or two up there for some hawgs. If you want to you can email me at marbleye@rochester.rr.com. Any info would be appreciated.

Rich, Although I've only fished it a few times with very poor results..I've got a friend at a campsite in Dexter that fishes it often. We were just discussing it the other day. He agrees that the river itself doesn't produce very good numbers. Most of the guys that do well up there are making a pretty long run out to the islands and shoals. I'm going the try Oswego for the spring bite. I've had better reports from there. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

I HAVE DONE THE BLACK RIVER ALOT AND THE BEST PLACE TO FISH ,IF YOU TROLL IS ON THE NORTH SHORE IN THE BLACK RIVER BAY .ALSO CHECK OUT POINT PENNISULA, JUST OUT SIDE OF CHAUMONT BAY AND IF THE WEATHER IS GOOD ENOUGH TRY CALF ISLAND SPIT.ALL DOABLE IF THE WEATHER IS OK , GOOD LUCK, SEE UP ON THE WATER

MF & Sluggo,
Thanks guys. Hopefully there will be something on NYSDEC website as to when the bite is "on". I will be traveling from Batavia NY. Aprox 3 hour drive. The nice thing is that my parents still live in Clayton. So a few trips if need be are very doable.
