I was started play with idea to do away with the snap and swivel when trolling area where bite off occur to often.Just doing a nail knot or by making a small wrapped loop to make a palomar to.Anybody else trying this. No extra stuff to foul lure action just a simple joining of the lines.

tying a double nail knot will yield you about 70% line strength at the knot.
Tying a bimini twist in the line so you get a double line to join to your wire, then tying the double nail will yield appx 135% line strength at the knot.
I've been using this system for thirty years on mono and dacron tied to steel and have had great results.
