Any funny fishing stories out there? Here's one of mine ... My buddy and I were at the big ice fishing derby at Brainard a few years ago. It was a beautiful day and we'd both had our fair share of cold beer out on the ice. There were lots of rental toilets in the fishing area. Afterwards we walked up to the road where the shuttle busses were and guess what.. no toilets there. We were both busting for a wizzz and there was no place to go. We were both in a desperate situation. There were thousands of people there all around us. We spotted the rear tire of a school bus near where we were. We got a few of our friends to stand around and block for us. As soon as we started to wizz, the bus drove away. There we were in all our glory, left standing in front of everyone in mid stream with our equipment hanging out. My buddy turned to me and said "I hope we don't break up any marriages. Time for another beer EH ". He's nuts, but a lot of fun.

Hard to top that but I seem to remember a urinating incident off a bridge in one of Backwater Eddy's stories a couple years ago. Do ya think we can talk him into telling us that story again? Well.....

I was talking with a friend of mine about trying to get on a landing on a river local to me. (Cabin fever increased by new boat) He reminded me that last fall a buddy of mine was sitting on that landing near the water, letting his bird dog run around in the water. He was resting on the tailgate of his 4x4, when suddenly he heard a 'pop'. Much to his amazement, his truck had popped out of gear, and was rolling into the river! He tried his best to get into the cab, but being that his trip started at the waters edge he didn't do too well. When he finally got into the drivers seat, the truck had already stopped. The water was chest high in his fairly tall pickup. He had to walk to a friends house and have him pull him out. Nothing against my friend, but I wish I could have seen that!

It was 1983, we had just finished fishing and went up to the campsite, leaving the fish to clean later. We were having cocktails and someone came up talking about the dummy whos boat had sunk. Guess who? My first experience with live well plumbing (it was a Starcraft, I have had more Starcraft since without problems).
The scene shifts to Y2k. Same story kind of except we were going to go out later after dinner. Didn't make it but one of the guys went back to boat & said there was a funny noise. I went down, no noise. At 5:00 AM neighbor came over and said my boat was sunk. He is a joker so I of course temporarily ignored him. Big as life my new ride (leaving brand name off for obvious reasons) was existing on it's flotation (which seemed to be pretty good).
Called dealer, 3+ hours to get it on trailer and a fast ride from Hayward to St Paul. I might point out I had 2 friends with non-resident licenses with me who had brought all the groceries, paid for those licenses and we had fished for maybe 3 hours.
Dealer did a great job of getting me back on the water. Not for that weekend but by the next had prefessionally check it all out, fixed what needed fixing....
Gets right down to no matter what you have its always the dealer.
Got lots of pictures/JPG from this from all of the 'helpful' neighbors!

Well, I do have a story and it is about a friend who shall remain nameless only because I did not get his permission to tell the story. My friend just picked up his new boat and invited me with for its maiden voyage. I accompanied him for some fishing and after a couple of hours on the water, he decided he really had to go #2 and could not make it to shore. Turns out, he really had the runs and decided to use the pail from the minnow bucket, put it between the walkthrough windshield on the floor and take care of business.
Unfortunately, while adjusting and setting up to go, he apparently pushed the pail back under the deck and proceded to finish the job all over the floor on the carpet of his new Tyee. Needless to say, he broke it in that day. That gave a whole new "pro" to having vinyl instead of carpet! :)
This one is pretty funny for anyone who wasn't directly envovled. A new Lund Tyee 1850 with all the bells and whistles was coming in after a day of fishing on Devils Lake. The boat owner jumped out of his boat with the fish and went to the cleaning station, his two fishing partners proceeded to put the boat on the trailer. They drove it on to the ROLLER trailer and pulled the Lund out with the pickup. Amazingly, the boat stayed on the trailer most of the way up the ramp, then the ramp became a little steeper, and the '99 Tyee slipped off of the trailer and slid all the way down the ramp, stopping just before it entered the water!!! This guy's transducers were shattered and hull dented up pretty good. I would not have wanted to be the two partners! Halarious now, but it wasn't real funny for the boat's embarrassed owner.

Im not sure if this can be classified as a funny story, but it sure was a ##### of a sight.A couple years back a few of my buddies and I were off for a week at my cabin in Park Falls, wis.A friend and I were pulling my boat and 2 others another boat.We left after work on a Friday and didnt get there until around midnite. We were all pretty tired so we went in and went to sleep. In the morning we were having a cup and my buddie went out to get something out of his truck and all of a sudden he was hollering and swearing to no end.The rest of ran out to see what was going on.He was standing there at the back of his boat with a piece of rope in his hand. After a closer look we realized what had happened. His anchor(20 lb river anchor) was literally stuck through the transom of his Lund and a length of rope was trailing about 20 feet behind the boat ,all frayed at the end.Evidently he didnt stow his rope and anchor and the rope started blowing around. The only thing we can conclude is the rope was blowing out the back (100 ft)and trailing on the road and a vehicle ran it over while driving causing the anchor to fly.The anchor also took out a pedistal and seat before becoming lodged in the boat.My friend ,after calming down a little, looked up white as a ghost and said "I cant believe Im standing here Bit@#$ng about the boat when that anchor could have went through someones windshield"An expensive lesson about stowing your anchors and ropes, yet a ##### of a sight to see!! Tight lines and bent poles to all..John.
