Does anyone know if it is legal to rent a privately owned cabin out in Canada? I own a cabin in southern Ontario, and am interested in knowing if I can rent it out a few weekends a year. I have heard this is NOT legal, but I _CANT_ find anything to prove it. If you know where I could get the info confirmed, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

John

I have never heard of it being illegal to rent your cabin, that is news to me unless of course if you don't own it. If you are a non-resident (i.e U.S. citizen) then you have to report the income to the CCRA (Canada Customs & Revenue Agency). Other than making sure your insurance co. is aware that you are renting it I don't see a problem.
