It looks like it should be fishable with a small boat this week. I know I'm ready. Are you?

Be there in April... I can't wait to go, but I want to be able to use the big boat. Looking VERY forward to it. Does anyone get the remote boarder pass, or does everyone just fish the Minnesota side?

The way to go is to get the remote border pass and to launch in on the Canadian side, nobody at the landings over there.
Good Luck

How do you get a remote border pass? Is there a cost? Does it allow you to launch only on the Canadian side or can you launch and fish? thanks!

Go to http://www.clementsonresort.com/ there is complete info on the Rainy spring run. It gets a little confusing, so read carefully. Don't forget, the minnows have to be purchased in Canada if you are fishing on the Canada side.

Have a week's vacation planned for the lake from Memorial day weekend till the following Sat, June 2nd. Never fished it, or even seen the lake before. Our cabin is at Sha Sha resort. What kind of fishing should I prepare for? Jigs or spinner baits? Where would be a good spot to start from? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

You can get a remote border pass when you drive across. I got mine last year when I crossed at International Falls. You need to go inside and fill out some paperwork, and the cost is thirty dollars Canadian for a year depending on when your birthday is. The area will be good from Lake Superior to Lake of the Woods. Make sure to keep receipts for bait that you buy in Canada as it is the only way to prove you bought it there, and they will ask!

Rich,
I believe this post is refering to the Rainy River, out of Baudette.

You are asking about Rainy Lake, which is outside of International Falls, and within Voyaguer National Park.

I am mostly familiar with the eastern basin of Rainy, east of the Brule Narrows, so I am of litte help. Sha Sha is on the western basin.

Try posting for Rainy Lake, and you should get some good information.

Good luck
