What is the best way to control a drift in this situation:
Strong (3m.p.h.) river current from South pushing North and
Opposite wind pushing from North pushing South
Will drift sock be of any use in this situation? Or would it act like a sail and move faster to North?
We typically drift only from South to North.
3 mph isnt fast the detroit river is 6-8 and times with hellacious winds I use a 56lb thrust bow mount electric.

Driftbags work well in this situation. When the wind blows the opposite direction of the current, it acts as though the current is much greater by deploying a good driftbag the boat will be pulled against the wind. Allowing you again to move with the current, assuming that is what you want to do. It depends on how you want to fish, do you want to troll, drift, jig or what? What are you fishing for? e-mail me if you would like more information, I'd be happy to help.

I use a 24v auto pilot trolling motor on the bow and on the back I put a 12v powerdrive on an AdaptEzz braket for a stern mount application. Seperate batteries so I can run both motors at the same time. Works great.
