I am going to be purchasing a couple of the Off Shore boards with the tattle flag kit. Since I use Fireline, should I be purchasing a different clip thatn what comes with the boards, or just wrap the line. I currently have the Roach boards, and I don't like that I have to wrap the line. Is there a better clip, or must I resort to wrapping the line?

The river in Red Wing was great this weekend!!

Yes you will have to go to the red clip which is stronger or there is another clip that is cone shaped that will hold fire line better.
I changed back to mono from fireline on the rods I pull boards with because to me it didn't last as long as I would have liked for the price and with the board on you have to rely on the tattle flag or watching the rod and board action to tell if you have a dragger or weeds on not the action of the lure.
Fireline is great for jigging or long line trolling behind the boat because of it's no stretch sensitivity and for getting deeper than mono.
Get the trolling manual sold on this site and line counters or figure out a way to get exact distance of line out ( I use my arm length as 6 ft ) with you other rods and you will be set.
The boards are awsome in clear water it seams like the fish move away from the boat and run right into your lure to the side and hit.

Trolling is an exciting way to catch fish.

According to Juls our resident Offshore Expert they have just came out with a new superline release to be sold in the new magazine/catalog that I HOPE (LOL) is soon to be mailed.

I beleive the Offshore link on the mainpage has a place for ordering catalog.

Just bought 2 of the new releases from offshore at this weekends
sport show. they are or-18 and are listed in offshore newspaper
that just came out. look like they should work with fireline just fine they have a pin that cams over the front to keep from coming off the line. also has adjustable tension with a larger pad than the or-16. the new or-16 has a pin in the center to prevent line from coming out.

The new clip is called the Snapper. I've been using it for several years now and it works great. I use it with Fireline.

Best Regards,

I'll back you up on this topic again and return it to first page so more people can see it. Snapper release works GREAT with Fireline. It would be nice if Offshore put the better releases in the board kits to start with. But that would impact sales of aftermarket releases, wouldn't it.
