I am purchasing a used 2000 200 Mercury Optimax. Does anyone know of any problems Mercury has had with this motor? You people that have a Opitmax how do you like it? Your input is greatly appreciated!

I have 2000 200 optimax on my charger no proplems with it for the past two seasons. Did see on bass boat central about a recall on 2000&2001 with the fuel injectors burning up. I did call in with serial# and found out my engine is not on the list.
Mercury is taking care of this problem before it gets out of hand
at no cost to the owner. It's easy on the gas&oil! Hope this helps out some. OLS have boat,will fish!

I have the same motor, the only problem I had was a sensor part go bad. the bad news was it was on back order for 2 months, the good news was it was during the winter that this happened.

I bought a leftover 1999 200 opti last year. I put 265 hours on it and the only problem I had was with it losing prime. The dealer rebuilt the fuel pump and I haven't had anymore problems.
The motor is great, its easy on gas and uses very little oil...
