I, as well as many of my friends have this rod. It is a wonderful jigging rod. Although I have fished with, and own several different G Loomis rods - this is in fact - my jig rod of choice.

For vertical jigging of 1/16 - 3/8 oz jigs it is unbeatable.

If you are lobbing jigs a bit --- then you should consider the 6'3" medium extra fast rod. This rod - is identically the same rod - except that there is an additional 8 inches of rod length. The tip section is identical.

If you are going to be casting a bit -- then you might consider going to the longer rod. It will give you a bit more distance - with the same great sensitivity.

However, if the mix of jiggins is sided to the vertical jigging side - and if you want a closer rod tip and a bit more precise jigging action - go with the shorter rod.

I personally feel that this is one of the best jig rods on the market today - no matter how much a rod costs.

Take care

I also own this same rod and I echo everything REW says about it. A couple of years ago on Leech there was a subtle jig bite and I was doing quite well with my rod. My buddy had identical line and jig but could not connect. We switched rods and the results switched as well. Now he owns the same kind of rod.

Very nice rod. I picked up two of them last fall for vertical jigging in rivers. It's the rod I go to when the wind picks up, given its shorter length. Very sensitive and good backbone when loaded up.
