View Full Version : Favorite Jigging Lines
What are you guys using for Jigging in the rivers. Should I use 8LB mono, should I use Fireline, if so what LB. What are your favorites and why?
Fireline works very good. You will feel a lot more. I like to put a 2 ft. mono leader on the end. The jig gets tied to the mono. The mono acts as a shock absorber and a breakaway. If you are drift jigging be very careful Fire line could cut you very badly if you get snagged.
I use 10# Fireline flame green in color. It is the best for looking at your line all day long. The mono dropper is needed for areas that have snaggs.

I will say this that there have been some who want a line that will not loose lures in the Detroit river and inadvertantly when they get snagged, which happens, they wrapped the line around their hand to break the line and lost some fingers. BE AWARE of what you are doing here and do not use a line that will not break if snagged. JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A DROPPER LINE DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE SNAG IS AT THE MONO LINE.

I use 4/1 fireline and if I get snagged it will break sometimes or it will sometimes straighten the hook out even with 4 pound test. The feel with fireline is very good with a good rod, I use the walleye angler series from Bass Pro. It's a 6'7" jiggn rod.
