Just purchased smile blades and I want to know if there are any secrets in making crawler harnesses with them. I see that they sell blades attached to stacker beads. Do you need these, can you attach blades by them selves after regular beads, how many beads do you use? What am I forgetting?

I throw the stack beads away, generally i use 3 to 5 4MM beads between the top hook and the smile blade, since I use the smile blade as a slow down presentation I like the small profile of the 3 to 5 small beads. I also drop my hook size from size 2 to size 4 when tying smile rigs. This rig excels as a slower option than "normal" spinner rigs, at slow speed the blade gives a real sexy side to side shimmy, its been a day saver on many occaisions.

You can use anything your heart desires with the smile blades. I have tied them with stacker beads, rattle beads, and glass beads. Mack's sells most of them with the stacker beads which are quick and easy when tying. If you have kids helping you tie like I do they are easier to pick up when the games are over. I rep Mack's and think the smile blades are the bomb!
