View Full Version : Lowrance x-75
Can anyone tell me how this unit performs? Looking for a decent locator that actually has arches instead of little fishy icons. They have it on clearance at Gander Mountain for around $250.00

A buddy of mine has one and it's a fine unit. This is the same price as the X65 has been selling for and I've not heard anything bad about the unit. Great resolution, plenty of power and a great display.
Try it in the manual mode

I've had one for 4-5 years. Great unit. I've moved up to an LCX15mt and I am turning the X-75 into a portable for fly-in to Canada.

I have had one for three years great unit. Use it in manual mode and keep the arches. Read the manual, it's good reading. Just added a LCX-15MT yesterday

Hey X-75 fans....
Do not despare, the X-75 has gone away, but it has also been moved to the Acura 240 in the Eagle line. Just compare the basic stats, 600 w of power 240x240 resolution.
I am on the Lowrance Pro Staff and am working the Milwaukee Sports show for them this week. I have had a considerable amount of time to play with the New unit, and it too is impressive.
As for the original post, turn the fish ID off, and no more little fishie pictures. If you want arches, leave the setting in the normal mode, no fish ID or Fish Track.
In auto the unit will perform very well and do most things 90% of us ask it to do, including marking fish as arches. However it is important to note, not every fish will be an arch. It all has to dop with the way the fish passes through the signal cone of the Transducer.
Stop in and see me at the show and we can jaw about it for a spell!
Y'all take care............R

Which Gander Mountain? Mine didn't have any on display yesterday. Maybe yours has a few left over?

Excellent unit, this will be my third season, Nofish is right on with his post. Don't think you will find better tech. help than the people at Eagle/Lowrance in Ok. They had a new X75 in my hands in 4 hours after the Eagle Optima (Eagle version of X75) quit on me in Canada 2 years ago. I think I got lucky having a dealer in the town I was in but they did the research on the phone and told me to go pick it up. Saved a fishing vacation. The way they treated me will always steer me to Lowrance/Eagle.
The X75 was discontinued, I think because the X85 is the same unit with more power peak to peak. But would certianly buy an X75 especially at a close out price.

The one I seen was in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I have an older Eagle right now, and that was the one I was refering to that had the little fish icons. I tried it in manual and still could'nt get arches. I will be getting the new lowrance x-75 this week.

I have used the X-75 for three seasons. As noted in the other posts it is a great unit. I really like the split screen feature and the outstanding resolution. From what I understand the X-75 and X-85 are essentially the same except that the X-85 has more power. Excellent unit – especially at that price.

A related question to the Lowrance X-75
I own both a Lowrance X-65 and a X-75. Both fine units. I carry the X-65 on the console of my boat. During periods of long, sunny exposure my X-65 will undergo "sunstroke". It changes to a darker color and is hard to read. Periodically, it will switch back and forth between its normal grayish color to a darker greenish color. I've read where if you put a towel over it during these times, or have a sunvisor, it will help prevent this condition. Unfortunately, this is not always the most convenient way to go, especially when moving from point A to B at higher speeds.
My question is this: Has anyone else, owning these units, experienced this phenomenon? Does anyone out there have a solution to solve this problem, other than what was mentioned above? Thank you.
Remember to keep your eyes open and your feet dry.

Have had the X-75 on 2 boats now and love it. Basic same Fishfinder unit as LMS 350A w/o GPS. No problem whatsoever. Chater Capt friend of mine has run X-75 for as long as he has run Charters. For $250 buy it.

I had the same exact condition of sunstroke you speak of On 2 differant Eagle ultra units. I dont believe its the LCD display itself, think the entire unit internal temperature overheats and causes it. They should be making these shells white rather than black so as to be more reflective and minimize the heat build up.
