I just received my Mille Lacs Lake version of Fishing Hot Spots Map for my LMS-160. I was surprised on the detail. I can't wait for open water to see how close the Navionics GPS map depth contour matches my depth finder. Has anyone used one of these new maps before? If so what is your opinion on accuracy?

I have used them on Lake of the Woods but it was a Navionics map and not a Hot Spot map from Navionics and it is very accurate and you will like it. I have a LMS 1600 and I love it. I did also buy a X15 MT and the only thing I can say is the GPS part of this unit need alot improvement. Your 160 and my 1600 has alot better GPS features. I bought it for the locator and I hope it works as well as my X70. The GPS on the X15 I will use as back up to the LMS 1600.

WHY DID YOU SAY THEY NEED LOTS OF IMPROVMENT? I HEARD SOMEONELSE SAY THAT TOO. I HEARD THEY ARE A LOT BETTER WITH THE MMC INSTALLED BUT I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT WOULD HAVE TO DO WITH IT. WHAT VERSION DO YOU HAVE? I WENT TO THE LOWRANCE WEB SITE AND DOWNLOADED THE NEW VERSION ON THE MMC AND UPLOADED IT TO THE UNIT. VERSION I HAVE NOW IS 1.5.1 I BELIEVE. IT CAME WITH 1.0.1

Here is the deal. When I talk about features here is what I mean. Let say I want to mark a spot with my 1600 I push the WPT switch twice and it puts the point at the nearest open spot. So lets say that is 5 and I have 175 way point in my GPS and now I want to move the point to 176 I can do that on my 1600 and not on my X15.I leave 1-10 open on my 1600 so I know where my new spots are and then I am able to move them. That is my system for tracking new spots. Second if you name a spot or use a symbol you can turn them off on the 1600 so just the number is on the screen. You don't have the option on the X15 and so your screen is clutter up with all those names and if you are looking up a way point you get this screen the say's (nearest) or (name) and then you have to enter alot and I could go on and on about it. It is not as user friendly as a LMS 1600 or a LMS 160 that I can operate it so much faster then X15. All I am talking about here is features it could use more. The X15 works well and I have owned many Lowrance GPS units from the early 90tys until now and in my opinion, it could use some of features like ther older ones had.

Just talked to Navionics today and asked some them about Hot-Spot Maps for the X-15mt. You will have to either send them a MMC card or they will sell you one, then the MMC will get programed with all your maps you order and then ship it back. You don't need the internal serial number from your unit. You can't get the number out of a MMC card GPS anyway. They also updated their Hot-Spots web site with new lakes

Also their web site doesn't properly select the MMC card for the X-15, it tells you to get the Lowrance E-charts.
