I noticed a Berkely Line Spooler in the Bass Pro catalog I just received. Does this one or any other model put line on better with less hassle than doing it by hand? Also, they say it is for both casting and spinning. There was a photo of it set up for casting, and that makes sense, but I can't imagine how it would work for spinning.

PS: Does it work with small spools, or just bulk spools? Thanks.

I have also had good luck with it. I set it up for my spinning reels just exactly the way you see it set up for baitcasters. I have used bulk spools and small spools on this.

when you set it up for spinnig reels like you do for bait casters dont you get line twist? I do it like they suggest and its a pain. The line keeps coming of the spool and wraping around the spool holder in back of spool. I have gone back to spooling it off the floor. For bait casting it works great. I do like the the line stripper though.

No line twist filling spinning reels like the instructions show for baitcasters. I wanted to be able to put some tension on the line, so I experimented filling it like a baitcaster, works great. Give it a try, set your drag tight enough so that it doesn't activate while you are filling, this causes line twist. You don't need to have an exceeding amount of tension on the spool, adjust your drag according to the tension on the spool.
