View Full Version : 4/1 Fireline
I am thinking about switching to 4/1 Fireline on my jigging rod this year. I usually use 1/16th or 1/8th ounce jigs on a light action rod. Catch Walleyes in the 1.5 to 4lb range but every once and a while tie into a fairly big Northern. I was wondering if this line would be strong enough or am I better off sticking with my 6lb test for all the advantage the difference would be?
Thanks for the help.

My buddy uses it on his loomis and he does just fine. Your reel has to have a reel smooth drag.
My buddy landed a 48" muskey on it. I would say it is strong enough.
I use it for pitching lite jigs. Works great. As you know, fireline will tend to frey after a while. Peel off a casting length and re-tie every couple hours.

I use 4/1 hi-vis flame green fire line for casting jigs 1/16 to 1/4 oz. jigs and love it. I'll never go back to mono.
